For centuries followers of Jesus have practiced *Lectio Divina* (Latin for "Divine Reading") as a way to read the Scriptures for the purpose of communion with God and facilitating growth in godliness. This type of reading is a process. It has a rhythm. There is a give and take, an ascending to God in prayer and praise and His descending to us in revelation and life. This type of reading is not simply to acquire knowledge of God or the things of God, but to be transformed by that knowledge.
